How
To Give Yourself A Burst Of Energy!

Pain
and lack of energy are probably the two toughest hurdles to overcome for a triathlete,
which I am sure you already know - however, one thing that is not well known is
that you can have some influence over these. Yes, this is really possible,
and it is not difficult, it just takes practice (like anything!).
You
see, your subconscious mind has access to an entire drug store of natural chemicals
which reside in your body, which it controls via your powerful immune system.
For instance, it can easily control your pain levels by releasing the natural
painkiller morphine into your system, if instructed to do so! This is often
what happens when an accident victim loses a limb - the immune system rushes morphine
to the area and the victim often will not feel a thing at the time of the
accident.
Yes,
this also happens to be the very same painkiller routinely used in hospitals for
major accident victims, and it is created inside your own body at the command
of your own subconscious. And in the area of energy, your body can releases
natural adrenalin into the bloodstream to give yourself an added boost
of energy when instructed by the subconscious.
This
means that you have the power to control the amount of pain your body feels, plus
also influence the amount of energy you have available during your race. This
can be done by using a particular visualization technique which can be used:
(a) during your regular daily visualization, and then
(b) actually
during the heat of your triathlon.
But
how do you do this? OK, let me give a quick crash-course tip that will help you
with this.
First
of all - something I probably haven't mentioned yet is that your subconscious
interprets energy to be glowing light - and this fact can be used to our
great advantage. The fabulous part about this is that this technique can work
equally well on pain as it does with supplying additional energy.
The
key however is to use this method during your regular daily visualization
so that your mind becomes thoroughly used to using this technique - and once this
becomes a new program within your subconscious, then you can also begin to access
this program by triggering it during your races as well.
So
you regularly visualize that your legs and body are filled with a vibrant glowing
light-energy which radiates from them during your triathlon - the more often
you do this, the sooner your subconscious will ensure you are supplied this energy
during your triathlons.
This
'glowing' imagery is used both during your proper daily visualization session
(with eyes closed), and then also while in the heat of competition (where eyes
are most certainly allowed to be open!), and I recommend using both methods if
you can. This technique works very well when used this way.
So
while you are practicing this technique regularly in your daily visualization,
you also practice using it in your training sessions, and eventually you
will be ready to bring it into your actual triathlon itself.
During
your triathlon, you may choose to use this technique from the beginning of the
race, or otherwise just bring it in at a particular time when you happen to need
additional pain management or are needing a boost of energy, or both.
This
is done purely and simply by imagining that your body is glowing with vibrant
light. This plugs you back in to the existing program you have
already put into your subconscious through your daily visualizations. You
may choose to use this method for just 5-10 seconds at a time, or you may even
choose to sustain it for the entirety of the triathlon if you wish, the choice
is yours.
So
always remember that you have the power to control the amounts of pain and energy
you experience. Practice this method until you get results - you will find it's
worth it!
